GreatSchools is the leading national nonprofit working to empower parents, especially those from underserved communities, to unlock educational opportunities for their children. Our website reaches half of all families with school-age children, along with many teachers and education leaders. We are a small but mighty cross-functional team of people who care deeply about the audiences we serve. We value and support each other and share a commitment to continuing to learn, grow, and improve together and as individuals.

We are looking for a Product Manager who is aligned with our mission and looking to grow with our team. If you are passionate about your work, enjoy solving problems, and want to lend your talents to help millions of families get a great education for their children, then this is the position for you!

Join our talented team and work in a highly-collaborative, supportive culture where each person’s contributions are important, valued, and cultivated. Help build experiences and tools parents and education advocates can use to improve schools and support student development.

We are an equal opportunity employer and encourage diversity in our workplace — education is a universal concern and we need people from all backgrounds to support our mission. This position will report to the VP, Product (as the VP, Product position is also currently open, the Product Manager will report to the CEO in the interim). It is a full-time, exempt position with headquarters located in Oakland, CA (remote work within the US is ok).

  • Cultivate a ‘Build, Measure, Learn’ feedback loop with parents/advocates using qualitative and quantitative methods to understand the user experience, gauge success, and inform future product improvements
  • Collaborate with UX, visual designers, and engineers to create features that solve the problems facing our customers.

  • Relevant, proven product management experience (agile web/software development environment preferred)
  • Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to move quickly, iterate often, welcome feedback, and remain flexible
  • Deep curiosity, empathy, and the desire to understand the needs of diverse users
  • Strong organizational skills and experience balancing a complex set of needs/priorities
  • Strong analytical background and experience establishing and tracking important product metrics (Google Analytics and SQL querying experience a plus)
  • Experience with user research and testing, and using qualitative and quantitative insights to inform and improve product development
  • UX experience or strong web/visual experience is a plus
